ATLANTA, Ga. - Covenant was out at the Emory Thrills in the Hills on Friday and Saturday looking to continue its progress towards the Conference Meet.Â
The Covenant women had a school record broken in the Javelin while the men's team took home a win in the 5000m Open division.Â
WOMEN'S RESULTS:
- Sophia Wiersema broke a school record in the Javelin Throw for Covenant, posting a mark of 30.72m to finish sixth.Â
- Emma Christensen competed in the 100m and Javelin Throw for the Scots. In the Javelin, she placed seventh with a mark of 30.63. In the 100m she ran a time of 13.46 to place her tied-36th.
- In the Pole Vault event, Sarah Holler placed 14th with a jump of 2.85m.Â
- Elie Berndt posted scores in two events for the Scots: Javelin (20.74m, 18th), Long Jump (4.21m, 40th).
- Daehla Smith ran in the 200m (27.87, 65th) and the 400m (1:05.55, 32nd).
- Also racing in the 200m was Josephine Swinburnson who placed 70th with a time of 28.44.
- Sophia Velleco finished just ahead of Smith in the 400m, posting a time of 1:05.31 to place 31st.
- In the 5000m Invitational division, Evangelia Berry ran the race in 18:26.06 to finish 13th.
- In the 5000m Open division, Claire Mellott completed the run in 20:49.76 to place 12th.
- Kenzi Stapleton led a group of four Covenant runners in the 1500m open division with a time of 5:09.16 and a sixth-place result. Sarah Olson (5:09.54, 7th), Emerson Tillery (5:17.62, 17th), and Greta McLean (5:23.41, 21st) also ran this event.Â
- Kali Hina was Covenant's lone runner in the 3000m where she finished the race in 13:05.90 to place sixth.
MEN'S RESULTS:
- Alex Burns won first place in the 5000m Open division with a time of 16:05.40. Jack Dupree (16:30.74, 6th), Samuel Harrelson (16:37.65, 9th), Aidan DeVries (16:38.42, 11th), and Andor Agustsson (17:40.12, 18th) also raced in this division.Â
- Josiah Mellott competed in the 1500m Invitational division where he placed 20th with a personal-record time of 4:04.88.
- Two other Covenant runners raced in the 1500 Open division, led by Ethan Saiki with a time of 4:07.25 to place eighth. Jacob Howington ran the race in 4:19.63 to finish 28th.
- Chandler Lines led four Covenant athletes in the 800m event with a time of 2:01.63 to place 34th. Also in the 800m were Trey Faulk (2:03.55, 43rd), Ethan Caswell (2:03.75, 44th), and Ethan Saiki (2:08.12, 57th).
- Rounding out the Covenant runner was John Purtill in the 10000m event where he posted a time of 36:35.62 to place fourth out of five competitors.Â
- Codey Parrish competed in the Shot Put. throwing a mark of 10.68m to place 25h.
- Cheney Byrd took on two throwing events: Discus (36.65m, 16th) and Hammer (37.26m, 19th).Â
