ATLANTA, Ga. - The Collegiate Conference of the South released its weekly award winners for Women's Track and Field on Tuesday afternoon with Sophia Velleco earning Track Rookie of the Week honors. This is the first time in Velleco's career that she has won this award. 

The Stafford, Virginia native had an impressive performance this past weekend at the Berry Field Day Invitational. She was part of Covenant's 4x100m team that set a new school record time of 51.89 to place sixth.

Additionally, Velleco competed in the 800m where she finished first place in her heat. Overall in finals she placed 20th with a time of 2:33.54.

Covenant returns to competition April 23-24 at the CCS Outdoor Championships hosted at Maryville College.
