MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Covenant had its final tuneup before the Conference Championship, competing in the Berry Field Day Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
It was another great day for the Scots, as both the men's and women's teams had student-athletes that set new school records. As a team, the women placed 11th out of 16 while the men were 13th out of 15 schools.
Some highlights from the weekend are listed below.Â
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:
- Sarah Holler broke her own school record in the Pole Vault event, posting a mark of 2.92m to place eighth on the day. She also competed in the High Jump where she placed 14th with a jump of 1.36m.
- The next school record that was broken was in the 4x100m relay as the team of Daehla Smith, Josephine Swinburnson, Sophia Velleco, and Emma Christensen did it for the second week in a row, posting a time of 51.89 to place sixth.
- Evangelia Berry (2:26.66) and Sophia Velleco (2:33.54) each won their heat in the 800m event. In finals Berry earned seventh place while Velleco placed 20th.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:
- Josiah Mellott broke his third different school record in Outdoor Track, posting a time of 4:02.28 to finish seventh in the 1500m.
- On Friday, Covenant arguably went as deep as it has ever done before in the 5000m event, led by Ethan Saiki who finished fourth with a time of 15:24.68.
- The other Covenant runners who competed in this event were as follows: Alex Burns (19th, 16:13.87), Chandler Lines (23rd, 16:20.54), Jack Dupree (23rd, 16:23.04), Jacob Howington (28th, 16:25.80), Aidan DeVries (31st, 16:29.80), Samuel Harrelson (33rd, 16:35.65), Ethan Caswell (34th, 16:39.75), John Purtill (36th, 16:41.60), and Trey Faulk (42nd, 17:23.12).
