ATLANTA, Ga. -- Covenant softball placed two on the CCS weekly award winner list,
Julie Mavity and
Elizabeth Yother, announced the conference on Monday.
Mavity, the freshman from Ider, Ala., was named the CCS Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after hitting .357 (5-for-14) over a six-game spring break trip in North Myrtle Beach last week, while also collecting six RBIs and four runs scored.Â
She also made her first career appearance in the circle for the Scots, getting a win after firing four scoreless frames against Cairn, striking out six.
Yother, a freshman from Vestavia Hills, Ala., earns her first CCS Pitcher of the Week honor after a dominant week in the circle in Myrtle Beach, helping the team win all three games she pitched in. She had a 2-0 record and a save in 16 innings of work, allowing just nine hits and two unearned runs.
Yother also struck out 25 in her 16 innings, including two 10-strikeout complete game wins.Â
Mavity, Yother and the Scots return to action on Friday when they continue conference play at LaGrange, beginning at 2 p.m.
