ATLANTA, Ga. - The Collegiate Conference of the South announced its Weekly Award winners on Monday afternoon with Covenant winning all four awards across Men's and Women's Cross Country. Despite only being two meets in, the Scots have done this two times now.Â
Earning Runner of the Week honors was
Emerson Tillery and
Ethan Saiki while
Lucie Demers and
Trey Mortensen won Rookie of the Week.Â
In the 5k at the UNG Invitational, Tillery led the Scots with a sixth-place result while posting a time of 19:07.6. This is the third time in her career that she has won this award. Demers was not far behind Tillery, finishing eighth with a time of 19:22 to earn her second Rookie of the Week Award. As a team, Covenant finished third out of 16 schools.
For the men's squad, Saiki led Covenant with a time of 26:39.8 in the 8k to finish fourth. The time marks a new PR in the 8k while the Runner of the Week award is the third of his career. Mortensen posted a time of 27:26.2 in the first 8k race of his college career, good enough to place him 11th. and win his second Rookie of the Week honor. The Scots placed second as a team out of 12 schools.Â
Covenant returns to competition on Sep. 26 at the Twilight at John Hunt in Huntsville, Alabama.Â
