OAKWOOD, Ga. - Covenant Cross Country raced in its second meet of the year on Friday night at the UNG Invitational, going up against several NCAA Division II programs. The men's team ran an 8k while the women competed in a 5k.
For the second meet running, the men's team finished second, totaling 63 points in the 12-team field. The women's team claimed third place out of 16 schools with 85 points.Â
WOMEN'S RESULTS:
- Finishing sixth with a time of 19:07.6 to lead the Scots was Emerson Tillery. She has been Covenant's best finisher in both meets so far.Â
- Lucie Demers backed up a strong start to her freshman year with an eighth-place result and a time of 19:22.0.
- Kenzi Stapleton (20th, 19:50.7) and Sarah Olson (21st, 19:53.8) were neck-and-neck, posting good results for Covenant.Â
- Aida Okie came in with a time of 20:43.8 to place 31st.Â
- Claire Mellott (48th, 21:18.9) and Maggie McGinley (51st, 21:348) were the next two runners to finish for Covenant.Â
- Rounding out the Scots' lineup was Leah Russ (60th, 22:07.6) and Arielle Eklund (91st, 25:34.5).
MEN'S RESULTS:
- Ethan Saiki led Covenant once again with a time of 26:39.8 to place fourth and set a new PR by seven seconds.Â
- CCS Rookie of the Week from two weeks ago, Trey Mortensen, ran the 8k in 27:26.2 to place 11th.Â
- Right behind Mortensen was Daniel Bowles with a time of 27:34.1 to place 13th, while Alex Burns came in at 27:43.3 to finish 15th.Â
- Rounding out the top 20 for Covenant with a 20th-place result was Samuel Harrelson, running the 8k in 28:13.1 to set a new PR by 20 seconds.Â
- Aidan DeVries (23rd, 28:21.6), John Purtill (28th, 28:44.2), and Chandler Lines (29th, 28:51.3) all placed inside the top 30 for the Scots.Â
