SALEM, Va. - Covenant's Cross Country teams competed in the NCAA Division III South Region Championships on Saturday morning, looking to build off the momentum from a pair of strong showings at the CCS Championships a few weeks prior.Â
Both teams brought home a 12th-place result, making it the second year in a row that the men's team has finished 12th in this race. The women's team had a strong improvement from 2024 as it finished 16th a year ago.Â
MEN'S RESULTS
- Ethan Saiki led a group of seven runners for Covenant, capping off an impressive junior season with a 52nd-place result out of 170 men. He crossed the finish line in 26:34.70.
- Alex Burns was Covenant's No. 2 runner on Saturday, placing 64th with a time of 27:00.80 in the junior's first time racing in the Regional Championships.Â
- Trey Mortensen was right behind Burns, placing 65th with a time of 27:01.10 in the final race of his freshman campaign.Â
- In 73rd place with a time of 27:06.30 was Daniel Bowles, as he competed in his last race as a Scot.
- The junior duo of Chandler Lines, (86th, 27:33.00) and Aidan DeVries (98th, 27:57.30) also raced for the Scots in Regionals.Â
- Jack Dupree was Covenant's final runner to have the honor of competing at Regionals, finishing 112th with a time of 28:13.80.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
- Sarah Olson led a group of six Covenant runners, and she was one of three who earned a new PR time. She finished 45th with a time of 23:40.60, which is the best finish by a Scot at Regionals since 2021.
- Lucie Demers, who finished second place at the CCS Championships, capped off her historic freshman year with a 52nd–place result, crossing the finish line with a time of 24:02.50.
- Kenzi Stapleton came through for Covenant with a PR time of 24:37.80, to finish 66th.
- Aida Okie also had a PR time for the Scots, as the freshman finished 84th with a time of 25:16.00.
- Maggie McGinley was Covenant's final runner to finish for the team score, posting a time of 26:21.00 to finish 116th.
- Claire Mellott had a season-best time of 26:47.70 to place 126th.
