DALTON, Ga. -- Covenant golf had two individuals,
Drew Silman and
Cole Godwin, land top-three scores, while the team finished tied for third at the CCS Championship at the Dalton Golf and Country Club on Tuesday evening.
As a team, the Scots finished with a 66-over, 930, tying for third with Asbury and ending behind No. 1-ranked Huntingdon and the CCS Champion, No. 12-ranked Piedmont.
Silman, the junior from Zachary, La., ended his tournament second overall with a 5-over, 221, one shot behind the individual champion, Jack Burr of Huntingdon. Silman showcased his remarkable consistency all round, completing his tournament with seven birdies and 36 pars.
Godwin, the freshman from Austin, Texas, had a stellar final round, shooting a 4-under, 68 to make his final total a 6-over, 222, tying him for third individually. He shot a tournament-best seven-under on par-5s and had nine total birdies, second best among all players, and an eagle, to spark his ascent.
Behind Silman and Godwin on Covenant's team leaderboard was senior
Wiley Hickerson of Gainesville, Ga., who shot a 3-over, 75 in his final round to finish with a 22-over, 238. Hickerson was dialed in on his first nine holes, going one-under par. He carded four birdies total.
Rounding out the Scots competitors were sophomore
Ayden Cordell from Rossville, Ga., who had a 36-over, 252 for the tournament, landing three birdies overall, and senior
Toby Matson of Grove City, Pa., who concluded his career with a 41-over, 257 and five birdies.
