GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Covenant golf opened their fall campaign with a 14th-place finish at the Gate City Invite, held at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro on Monday and Tuesday.

As a team, the Scots had a 40-over, 904 for the tournament.

Senior Drew Silman led the way for the Scots with his 2-under, 214, tying him for fifth on the leaderboard and putting him just one shot behind the leaders. He carded seven birdies and an eagle along the way, and had an opening round of 68.

Behind Silman was freshman Oliver Bean, who had a 12-over, 228, in his collegiate debut, picking up six birdies and shooting a low round of 71 in round two of the tournament.

Freshman Calvin Johnson posted a 17-over, 233, in his collegiate debut, knocking in three birdies, and opening with a low round of 77. One shot behind Johnson was sophomore Cole Godwin, who had an 18-over, 234, and five birdies, with a low round of 76 in rounds two and three.

Rounding out the competitors for the Scots was freshman Thomas Milajecki, who had a 20-over, 236, and four birdies, shooting a low round of 77 in his first round of play.

CCS foe Huntingdon won the team title with their 9-under, 855, with Cole Humphrey and Myles Cunningham III tying with three others for the individual title.

UP NEXT

The Scots will participate in the Bob Jones Bruins Classic next Monday and Tuesday in Anderson, S.C.
