BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Covenant track and field added to their season by seeing four personal records set at the UAB Vulcan Invite in Birmingham on Saturday.
Junior
Alex Burns had the lone personal best on the men's side, running a 4:51.85 in the mile. On the women's side, fellow junior
Claire Mellott likewise set a personal best in the mile with her 6:05.49. In the 800m,
Sophia Velleco (2:30.28) and
Kenzi Stapleton (2:33.53) notched personal-best times.
On the sprint front,
Cameron Bain (24.44),
Josephine Swinburnson (29.69) and
Jaiden Henderson (31.13) competed in the 200m, while
Connor Moffat (54.94) and
Andor Agustsson (58.09) participated in the 400m, with Agustsson setting an initial benchmark with his performance.
Chandler Lines was the lone competitor on the men's side in the 800m, running a 2:08.14.
Lucie Demers came in ninth in the women's 800m with her 2:27.47.
Jack Dupree (4:57.39) and
Aidan DeVries (5:01.85) added contributions in the mile, as did
Rachel Bowles (6:16.72) on the women's side.
Ethan Saiki recorded a top-10 finish in the 3000m, placing seventh with his 9:13.15. Additionally,
Jacob Howington (9;59.46) and
Aida Okie (12:14.06) participated in their respective mile runs.
Rounding out the competition for the Scots were
Elie Berndt (4.38m - 14' 4.5") in the long jump and
Max Davis (11.43m - 37' 6") in the shot put.
