ATLANTA, Ga. -- Covenant men's track and field junior
Ethan Saiki was tabbed as the CCS Male Track Athlete of the Year and CCS All-Sportsmanship, while
Christian Mortimer,
Aidan DeVries,
Chandler Lines, and
Alex Burns landed All-CCS distinctions as well, announced the conference on Friday.
The announcement comes following the Scots' third-place finish at the CCS Championships in Jackson, Miss. on April 22.
Saiki, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., rounded out his three-year career as a Scot by earning the Track Athlete of the Year, Athlete of the Meet, Track Athlete of the Meet, and All-Sportsmanship in 2026, dominating the field with first-place times in the 5k (16:29.34), 10k (33:15.13), and 1500m (4:09.64) at the CCS Championships.Â
Mortimer, a freshman from Seminole, Fla., battled through injury rehab to post a gold-medal javelin toss of 53.32m (174' 11"), heaving that mark on his final attempt.Â
DeVries, a junior from Grimsby, Ontario, claimed two medals in the long distance events, running a 16:42.05 in the 5k to get silver and a personal-best 34:16.64 in the 10k to get bronze.
Lines, a junior from North Augusta, S.C., gained a pair of silver medals, one in the 800m with his 1:58.25, and one in the 1500m with his 4:09.08.
Burns, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., placed within the top three in the 5,000m (16:42.05) and 10,000m (34:16.64) as well, joining Saiki and DeVries on the podium in both events. His 10k mark was a personal best.
