BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Covenant track and field set two program records and recorded three personal bests at the UAB Blazer Invite in Birmingham on Friday.
Senior
Chandler Lines, from North Augusta, S.C., had the first program record for the Scots, running a 2:47.08 in the 1000m, while sophomore
Codey Parrish of St. Petersburg, Fla. had the second, firing a 10.97m (36' 0") toss in the weight throw.
On the women's side,
Claire Mellott ran a a 3:27.99 in the mile to notch a personal record, while
Elie Berndt outdid her previous personal bests in both the long jump (4.48m - 14' 8.5") and the triple jump (9.78m - 32' 1").
In other results,
Cameron Bain ran a 7.79 in the 60m dash, while
Connor Moffat had a 24.97 in the 200m dash. In the 300m, Bain recorded a 39.95,
Josephine Swinburnson had a 47.82, and
Jaiden Henderson notched a 51.97.
Sophia Velleco followed in the 600m with an initial benchmark of 1:46.68, and then junior
Ethan Saiki (2:08.97) and freshman
Rachel Bowles (2:47.33) competed in the 800m.
Jack Miller also had an excellent 1000m time, finishing right behind Lines in fifth overall with a 2:53.37, while freshman
Lucie Demers ran a 3:10.39 to place 12th in her event.
Jacob Howington notched a top-10 finish in the mile, placing eighth with a time of 4:56.73, and
Aida Okie ran a 5:58.50 on the women's side.
Max Davis rounded out the Covenant competitors by having a fantastic day in the shot put, recording the third-best mark in program history to this point with a 11.39m (37' 4.5").
