ATLANTA, Ga. - The Collegiate Conference of the South announced its Baseball weekly awards with two Covenant student-athletes among the honorees. Benjamin Johnson won CCS Player of the Week while Zach Barrett was named CCS Rookie of the Week.Â
Across three games, Johnson had a batting average of .600 with two home runs and eight RBIs. In a win over MUW, Johnson hit two home runs, including a grand slam. During this game he tied a school record with seven RBIs in one game. The junior second baseman also scored five runs and drew one walk.Â
Barrett faced a tall task in his first ever start on the mound, going up against No. 4 Birmingham-Southern on the road. However, the freshman was up for the challenge as he threw five shutout innings to take the win. His final line was (5 IP, 2 H, 6 K, 2 BB).
Covenant takes the field again tomorrow night at 6 p.m. on the road at Oglethorpe.Â
