TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. -- Covenant baseball concluded their 2026 campaign at Toccoa Falls on Saturday evening, falling by 5-2 and 9-5 scores.
The Scots conclude their season 14-26 (6-12 CCS).
GAME ONE: Toccoa Falls 5, Covenant 2
An early 1-0 lead would not hold as the Scots fell to the Screaming Eagles, 5-2, in game one.
Six different players recorded a hit for Covenant, while
Daniel Bell had the lone RBI. Starter
Jonathan Glover (4-3) struck out five in his four innings, while
David Lovell concluded his tenure as a Scot with two scoreless innings of relief.
Covenant jumped on the board first in game one, scoring a run in the top of the first inning, and Glover was able to hold that advantage for the first two innings.
However, the Screaming Eagles scored five between the third and fourth frames to go up 5-1. The Scots managed to scrape a second run across in the seventh, but could not rally enough to tie or take the lead.
Peyton Powell had a two-hit day, including a home run, to lead the Toccoa Falls offense, while Tyler Robert earned the win in relief and Joshua Ramey earned the save.
GAME TWO: Toccoa Falls 9, Covenant 5
Covenant fell behind big early and while they scored three in the second half of the game, could not keep pace, falling 9-5 in game two.
The top of the lineup was on fire in this game, as
Daniel Bell,
Roby McClarnon,
Daniel Counts, and
Elliott Eastin combined for eight hits, four RBIs, and two walks.
Kyle Livengood was also excellent at the plate in his final collegiate game, going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. On the pitching side,
Marcus Kinch finished his tenure with a scoreless inning, striking out the side.
The Scots again scored in the top of the first to begin matters, but Toccoa Falls scored twice in the bottom of the inning and six times in the bottom of the second to push their early lead to 8-2.Â
A two-run rally in the fourth cut the deficit by a third, but that would be as close as they would get, as the two squads traded late runs to end the game 9-5.
Cole Smith went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Screaming Eagle offense, while Carson Fuchs got the win.
Zach Barrett (2-5) was handed the loss.
