MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- Covenant baseball fell in their midweek contest at Berry on Tuesday evening, 15-2, in a run-rule shortened affair in Mount Berry.
Drew Avant,
Roby McClarnon, and
Kyle Livengood recorded hits in this one, with Avant adding an RBI.
David Lovell and
Isaac Leicht combined for 4.2 innings of two-run relief to try and hold down the fort after some early tumult.
Early on,
Ethan Goebert (0-4) worked through a solid first inning, allowing just one run on a sacrifice fly. However, the Viking offense broke through in the second, scoring 12 runs to go up 13-0 after two frames.
Covenant attempted to answer with a run in each of the third and fourth innings, but it would not be enough, as Berry tacked on two more runs between the fifth and sixth innings to prevent any further comeback efforts.
Chase Edmonds, Riley Uhls, and Tanaka Mukono combined for nine hits and eight RBIs for Berry, and Wynn Boren (1-0) earned the win with 2.1 scoreless innings.
