TRANSYLVANIA, Ky. - The Women's Tennis squad began their spring with a trip to Transylvania. In a great match, the Scots fell just short, losing 5-4.

DOUBLES:
- Playing in the No. 1 position, Lauren Carr and Addi Gunyon were defeated by Grace Gardner and Katherine Taylor 8-2.
- Macy Matson and Dani Rappuhn fell in a close match, 8-5 to Maria Hayes and Ally Rassenfoss in the No. 2 seeded match.
- Transylvania earned the doubles sweep as Alexis Baker and Angel Traylor were defeated by Christina Duvall and Maddy Williams 8-2 in the No. 3 slot.
SINGLES:
- Carr was swept 6-0, 6-0 by Taylor in the No. 1 position.
- Baker got the Scots on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 win in the No. 4 slot over Rassenfoss.
- In the No. 3 seeded match, Matson swept Hayes 7-5, 7-6.
- Shortly after Matson's match ended, Gunyon won 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 over Gardner in the No. 2 position match to put Covenant back within one point of Transy.
- Rappuhn won in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 over Williams in the No. 6 slot to tie the match.
- In the No. 5 seeded match, Traylor fell, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 to Duvall in what turned out to be the deciding point.
UP NEXT: Covenant has its home opener on Saturday, Feb. 10 against Johnson University - Tennessee. .
