Sandhoff Wins Goalkeeper of the Year as Five Scots Earn All-Conference Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Collegiate Conference of the South announced its 2023 Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and Yearly Awards on Tuesday afternoon with five Covenant student-athletes among the honorees.

Lucy Sandhoff won Goalkeeper of the Year and was named to the First Team. Also earning First Team honors was Reece Black and Aiden Strawbridge. Leah Marr and Rachel Wall were each named to the Second Team.

Sandhoff, a graduate student from Lookout Mountain, Georgia leads the CCS with an impressive save percentage of .847. She totaled 72 saves on the year in 15 games played in. Sandhoff has kept five clean sheets across 90 minutes. On Sep. 19, she was named CCS Defensive Player of the Week after two shutouts, which included a nine-save performance against Sewanee. In the second game of the year, Sandhoff broke Covenant's all-time career saves record.

Black, a junior defender from Cartersville, Georgia has started all 15 games for the Scots and played a total of 1,204 minutes. Black is a key player for Covenant in defense, as it ranks third in the CCS in Goals Allowed at 1.066. Black's speed has been useful for Covenant on offense as well on the wing. She has one assist for the season.

Strawbridge, a junior midfielder from Lakeland, Florida started 14 of her 15 appearances on the year for a total of 885 minutes on the field. She has one goal on the year, which was a great strike from outside the box against Wesleyan. Strawbridge has been an important piece to Covenant's midfield all season, when having the ball or when in defense.

Marr, a senior midfielder from Hendersonville, North Carolina has started all 15 games for Covenant for a total of 1,067 minutes on the pitch. She is fifth in the CCS with eight goals on the year and has scored in each of the last four games for Covenant. Marr also has one assist to her name this season.

Wall, a junior forward from Freeport, Maine has played in all 15 games with 14 of those coming as starts for a total of 884 minutes on the field. She leads the Scots and ranks third in the CCS with nine goals on the year. She is also second on the team with two assists. She recently netted her first career hat trick against Wesleyan and is the two-time reigning CCS Offensive Player of the Week.

Maryville swept the rest of the yearly awards with Hannah Smoot (Offensive Player of the Year), Hailey Cartt (Defensive Player of the Year), Madison McDonald (Rookie of the Year), and Pepe Fernandez (Coach of the Year) each winning an award.

Covenant finished the regular season 6-4-5 and 5-1-2 in league play to secure the No. 3 seed in the CCS Tournament. The Scots will host Huntingdon in the Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
