This week (January 2-7), the Covenant Baseball program is away on a mission's trip in the Domincan Republic. The team has partnered with SCORE International Ministries in order to share the gospel through a shared love of sports. You can find the mission and vision of SCOREÂ
here.Â
Â
Each day, Scots Baseball is wanting to provide our community with details and updates so that Covenant Athletics, friends, family, and fans can follow along on the trip. Matthew Parrott, a freshman on the baseball team writes,Â
"We had a great Tuesday on the mission field. Our day started off early this morning eating breakfast at 7:30 (AST). After breakfast we loaded the bus and took a trip down to San Pedro where we were able to play baseball against some great Dominican talent. After the game we had the opportunity to share a [player's] testimony along with the Gospel to all of the opposing players and coaches.
Â
This was an amazing experience. It was so awesome to see that although we may have a language barrier, we all bond through the great game of baseball. After we left our game we ate lunch and then headed towards the surrounding villages to provide meals for a few families. During this time, we also were presented with the opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus to all who would listen. I am so thankful that Jesus makes a way for all of us no matter who we are or where we are from!Â
Â
To conclude our first day, we sat down for a team meal and topped it off with reading God's Word followed by a team devotional. This has already been such an eye-opening experience and we all cannot wait to see what the rest of the week has in store."
Â
A verse that the team has included is Mark 16:15 which reads,Â
"Jesus said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.'"Â
Â
Please be praying for our Scots as they are on this trip!Â
