ATLANTA, Ga. -- Junior Gabby Sumrall was named the CCS Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman Evy Hammer earned the CCS Rookie of the Week, announced the conference on Tuesday.

The honors are the first weekly awards for both athletes.

Sumrall, a junior from Monroe, La., recorded 20 total blocks, including three solo blocks, for a 1.43 blocks per set average, helping the Scots win three of their four opening week matches.

Hammer, a freshman from Winter Park, Fla., notched 42 assists and 14 assists in her debut week, averaging 4.20 assists per set in that span. She also picked up a pair of service aces for good measure, contributing to three Scots wins in their first week of action.

Sumrall, Hammer, and the Scots return to the court in Bangor, Maine on Thursday against Husson at 6 p.m.
