LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Six Covenant softball players collected National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athlete honors for their work in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year, announced the organization this week.
Vanessa Davis,
Alexa Gonzalez,
Lauren Kay,
Lauren Kierpa,
Mary Elaine Mitchell, and
Helena Nagy were all honored by the association and part 7,527 collegiate student-athletes from all levels recognized.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a 3.50 GPA or better during the academic year. The six honorees are the most for the Scots in program history.
All six players were also honored with USA South All-Academic accolades earlier this summer. Kay collected USA South All-Academic with distinction as she produced a 3.90 GPA or better in each semester.
Under head coach
Kara LeLeux, the Scots had a 3.23 team GPA in the spring and a 3.02 mark during the fall semester.
Covenant ended the year 20-17 overall and finished third in the USA South West Division.
