OXFORD, Miss. -- Covenant softball concluded their 2026 campaign at the CCS Tournament on Thursday in Oxford, Ala., falling 10-0 to the No. 1-seeded Belhaven Blazers.
The Scots finish the season 14-28 (5-11 CCS).
Julie Mavity and
Charley Clark had hits in this one for the Scots, who struggled to generate any rallies against the No. 9-ranked Blazers' pitching.
Clark (3-16) also battled valiantly in the circle, throwing five innings and allowing just one earned run, striking out two.
The two teams, battling to continue their time in the CCS Tournament after falling in their first games, traded zeroes for the first three innings, but the Blazers, assisted by four Covenant errors, scored all 10 of their runs in the fourth, and then AR Sharp closed the game out with two scoreless innings.
The senior class left their mark on the season, as
Cailey Barnett ended the campaign with hits in seven of her last eight games, while
Cassidi Phillips ended the season hitting .325 with 17 RBIs and
Madison Taylor hit .301 with 10 doubles and three triples.
Freshman
Julie Mavity also made an impact, leading Covenant in batting average (.328) with four doubles and four triples.
Elizabeth Yother and
Charley Clark led the CCS in innings, as the pair combined for 261 innings, with Yother, the freshman, firing two shutouts.
Maryanna Guy went 2-for-2 with a home run, while Macy Funderburk (11-4) earned the win in the circle for the Blazers.
