NEW ORLEANS -- For a fifth straight year, both Covenant men's and women's track and field programs were honored by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) for their work in the classroom as both earned All-Academic Team awards.
It is the sixth straight year that the women's program has earned the distinction, while it is the fifth consecutive honor for the men's team.
Under recently departed head coach Katie Stanford, the women produced a team GPA of 3.38 as the team has earned academic honors in each of its first six seasons of existence. The men compiled a 3.31 GPA.
To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Covenant was one of two USA South members to collect awards in both men's and women's track and field (Piedmont).
The women's team placed nine athletes on the USA South All-Academic list, while the men's program had eight.
