Multiple Program Records Set at Emory Open

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Covenant track and field programs had a strong showing at the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open over the weekend as the women set seven program records.

The women placed 14th in the meet with 18 points, while the men were 18th with eight points in the two-day meet.

All seven program records set in the meet were on the women's side.

S.K. Lipperd toppled the 2:20 mark in the 800-meter as she finished third in the event with a program record time of 2:18.62. That time bested her previous program record of 2:20.51 set three years ago.

Elysse Carrillo also continued her torrid pace to start the outdoor season as she once again topped her own program records in the 400-meter and 200-meter events. In the 400-meter on Saturday, Carrillo came in 12th overall with her top time of 1:00.76. Carrillo also set a program record on Friday in the 200-meter as she finished in 26.82.

Also on Friday, the Scots women set two other program records. Mattie Parker came in fifth overall in the 3,000-meter steeple with her program-best time of 12:05.32, topping her own program record by less than one second. In the 400-meter hurdles, Anna Baker came in at 1:13.81 to set a program record.

In field events on Saturday, Jae Woods broke her own program-best mark in the shot put with a distance of 9.51 meters. In the pole vault, Sarah Holler came in 10th with her program record height of 2.85 meters.

In Friday's 5,000-meter run, Maggie Henry had a personal record time of 19:04.02 as she placed 10th. On Saturday, Henry joined Parker, Jenna Sandhoff, and Lydia Dorman in the 4x800 relay team that placed eighth with a time of 10:37.39.

On the men's side, Micaiah Allison set a personal record time in the 3,000-meter event with his finish of 9:20.29 that was good for sixth, while Benjamin Jones was eighth at 9:29.91. Allison also placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeple on Friday with a time of 9:58.44.

Top season times were set in the men's 200-meter on Friday as Noah Norman came in at 23.15, just ahead of Josh Leak's personal record time of 23.19 in the event. Seth Bergeron set a personal record in the 800-meter on Saturday with a time of 2:00.26, while Ian Sneller was eighth in Friday's 10,000-meter with his personal-best time of 34:38.13.
