KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Covenant men's soccer seniors
Mercer Stout and
Parker Owen both earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region VI honors, announced the organization on Monday.
Stout was a first team selection, while Owen collected second team honors. It is the second time in the last three seasons that Covenant has placed multiple players on all-region teams.
Stout, a senior from Signal Mountain, Tenn., earns All-Region honors for the second time in his career. The senior led Covenant with nine goals and 10 assists on the year and earned All-USA South first team honors. Stout was a key factor in Covenant's run to the USA South Tournament title as he was named the tournament MVP after scoring three times during the tournament.
During the year, he had three multi-goal matches and scored six goals with six assists over the final seven matches of the season.
Owen, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn., garners his first career All-Region selection. An All-USA South first team selection this season, Owen had five goals and three assists while maintaining his spot among the best midfielders in the USA South. He also earned USA South All-Tournament honors as Covenant claimed the title. In the NCAA Tournament, Owen scored the lone goal in the Scots' 1-0 win over Denison in the first round.
Owen concluded his playing career with 21 goals and eight assists, while being a three-time All-USA South honoree.
Stout and Owen led Covenant to a 12-4-4 season with a USA South Tournament title and the program's second NCAA Tournament appearance.
