LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Covenant volleyball team picked up a big win over Berry 3-2 (18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 15-10) in its first match on Friday before falling to 25th-ranked Millikin 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-22) in the nightcap in Lexington, Kentucky.
With the loss in the second match, the Lady Scots suffer their first defeat of the 2014 season and go to 6-1 overall.
In the day's first match, Covenant defeated Berry, an NCAA tournament team last season, for just the second time in school history. Schuyler Moore recorded her second triple-double of the year with 10 kills, 19 assists and 11 digs, while her twin Ginny Moore had 12 kills and 20 digs. Chloe Carlson had a team-high 24 digs with Christina Argaez adding 12.

After dropping the first set, Covenant responded by taking the second game. Holding a slim 22-21 lead, the Lady Scots scored three of the final four points to take the victory. Ginny Moore had consecutive kills and a Berry attack error gave Covenant the 25-22 win.
Covenant took a 2-1 match lead with a third set victory. The Lady Scots got out to a 12-8 lead midway through the set before Berry came back. Kirkpatrick gave Covenant a 24-21 lead with a kill, but Berry made it 24-23 with two straight points. Like the second set, a Berry attack error gave Covenant the set.
The fourth set belonged to the Vikings as they tied the match at 2-2. In the fifth set, Covenant took a 3-2 lead and never trailed again as a kill from Ginny Moore and a Hannah Rogers ace gave Covenant a 14-10 lead before a bad set on the Berry setter ended the match.
Covenant finally met its match in the second contest as they faced 25th-ranked Millikin. The Big Blue got 18 kills from Audrey Krajec as they improved to 6-0 on the year. Ginny Moore had six kills to lead Covenant, while Carlson had 15 digs.
