DECATUR, Ga. -- The Covenant volleyball team extended its season-long winning streak to seven with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-8) victory over Agnes Scott in non-conference action on Tuesday night in Decatur, Ga.
Covenant has now produced winning streaks of six and seven matches this season as they improve to 16-6 overall. Agnes Scott drops to 6-11 on the year.
For a fourth straight match, the Lady Scots had a team hitting percentage of better than .200 as they compiled 31 kills for a .263 percentage. Reigning USA South Player of the Week Chelsea VanDyk tallied nine kills, with zero errors, to lead the Covenant attack. Ginny Moore added six kills, while Schuyler Moore had five kills, 16 assists and three service aces.
Jessica Seehorn chipped in 10 assists and Chloe Carlson had a team-high 10 digs.
Covenant never trailed through all three sets. The Lady Scots took a 5-4 lead in the first set and extended it to 15-5, capped by a VanDyk kill and a Christina Argaez service ace to take a commanding lead. Covenant would also hold a 15-5 lead midway through the second set and led 19-4 at one point in the third game.
Agnes Scott was led by Shelli Sherman's 11 digs.
Covenant will be back in USA South play on Saturday with a quad match hosted by Maryville. The Lady Scots play Greensboro at noon followed by Mary Baldwin at 2 p.m.
