ATLANTA, Ga. -- Covenant freshmen
Sarah Vannoy and
Christian Mortimer were named the CCS Track Rookie of the Week and CCS Field Rookie of the Week, respectively, announced the conference on Tuesday.
The awards are the first of the season for each of the two athletes.
Vannoy, a freshman from Woodinville, Wash., has continued to impress in her freshman campaign to this point, as she finished fourth overall of 54 runners in the 1500m at the Lee University Invitational on Saturday with a 4:48.62.
Mortimer made his outdoor debut at the Lee University Invitational on Friday, firing a 48.62m (159' 6") in the javelin, which earned him a podium finish of third out of 26 athletes.
Vannoy, Mortimer, and the Scots will remain home for the Mountainside Stride meet on Friday evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
