ATLANTA, Ga. -- Covenant women's basketball will head into the 2026-27 season selected sixth in the CCS Preseason Poll, announced the conference on Tuesday.
The Scots earned 11 points in the poll, as they look to improve on last season's seventh-place finish.
Head coach
Tonya McIntosh, along with assistant
Samantha Johnson, lead the returning roster that features three seniors, one junior, and five sophomores, with five new faces entering the fray.
Seniors
Emma Kaye Fuller,
Cair Canady, and
Alyssa Freeman return to head up the upperclassmen. Fuller averaged 5.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game last season, while Canady added 3.7 points and 3.1 boards. The three look to take on more work in 2026-27.
Ora Hall makes up the junior class, as she averaged five points and two rebounds per game while shooting .288 from distance, highest among the returners. She hopes to continue sniping from long range during the season.
In terms of sophomores, All-CCS Second Team honoree
Violet Wright headlines that returning group, as she averaged 10.9 points and 7.4 boards, adding 17 blocks and 37 steals. Joining Wright are
Jada Sanders,
Emma Flowers,
Trinity Smith, and
Anna Everett, looking to take advantage of their opportunities.
The new faces include sophomore Tabor College transfer
Nevi Wilkey, who aspires to carve out a larger role for the Scots. Freshmen
Shea Vanderwey,
Natalie Bohannon,
Alyssa Ashe, and
Ellie Causey round out the roster, looking to make an impact in year one.
Covenant begins their season on Friday at home against Centre, and will make a trip to Florida in early December to take on Webber International for an exhibition and then Florida Poly the following day in Lakeland.Â
CCS play begins on Jan. 5 against Asbury, and then a week later, the Scots will host Piedmont for Max Out Barnes. They wrap up their regular season on February 20 against LaGrange, hoping for a bid to the CCS Tourmament, which will be played on Feb. 26-27, hosted by the highest seed.
Piedmont and reigning CCS champion LaGrange were picked atop the preseason poll, with each earning 30 points, although Piedmont earned one more first-place vote.
