SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A rainy start to the USA South Tournament ended with the Covenant golf team posting a 317 and in a tie for seventh in the first round on Monday at the par-72 Carolina Country Club.
Covenant finished its first round, but three teams (Methodist, Huntingdon, Piedmont) still have golfers left to finish out the round on Tuesday morning. The Scots are currently tied with Maryville for seventh.
Will DeMersseman led the way for Covenant with an opening-round 73. The senior carded two birdies on the front nine as he was 1-under par at the turn and DeMersseman is currently tied for 13th in the field.
Kenny Duffin followed with a round of 80, which included two birdies, while
Bo Luff shot an 81.
Isaac Duncan registered an 83 and
Crawford Collett finished the first round with a 90.
