MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- After a tough first round on Monday, the Covenant golf team shaved 28 strokes off its score in Tuesday's final round in a loaded field at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate, hosted by Huntingdon.
Covenant placed 18th overall in the event. A total of 13 teams in the field ranked in the top-50 in the latest Golfstat.com national rankings, including eight in the top 25. No.1-ranked Methodist came out on top with a two-day score of 15-under par, 563 (290-273).
Crawford Collett paced the Scots on day two with his low-round of 73. He produced an eagle in the round as he carded a two on the par-4 5th hole, his seventh hole of the round. Collett added a birdie on the back-nine, one of his four in the event, to round out his 73 and finish in a tie for 66th overall with a 36-hole score of 159 (86-73).
Kenny Duffin was the top Scot in the tournament with his 158 (80-78) as he carded three birdies between the two rounds.
Will DeMersseman finished his final round with a 76 on Tuesday, which included three birdies.
Grant Little also improved on day two with an 83, while
Bo Luff carded an 89.
Covenant shot a 310 in the final round to finish with a 648 (338-310).
Methodist had three players tie for medalist honors at 4-under par (Will Campbell, Cooper Hrabak, Henry Angier).
