ANDERSON, S.C. -- Will DeMersseman placed 11th overall and the Covenant golf team placed fifth at the Bruins Golf Classic, hosted by Bob Jones at the Cobb's Glenn Country Club.

The Scots shaved eight strokes off Monday's first round score in Tuesday's final round to place fifth overall with a 646 (327-219). Spartanburg Methodist took the team title (597, 297-300), while host Bob Jones was second (606, 303-303).

DeMersseman tied for the second-lowest score in Tuesday's final round with his 74. The senior carded an 81 in the first round on Monday to finish 11th overall with a 36-hole score of 155 (81-74). Bob Jones' Drew Walker won the event with a two-day 148 (74-74).

Andrew Barber paced the Scots in the first round with his 79. The freshman followed that with an 81 on Tuesday for a 160 (79-81) that placed him 22nd in the field.

Crawford Collett finished with a 164 (81-83), Grant Little came in at 167 (86-81), and John Livingston carded a 179 (87-92).

Covenant will be back in action next week at the Piedmont Fall Invitational at The Orchard Golf & Country Club in Clarkesville, Ga.
