MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- Christian Fulbright's goal in the 102nd minute of play lifted the host Berry Vikings to a 1-0 win over visiting Covenant on Thursday evening in Mount Berry.
Fulbright's score came less than two minutes after the second overtime period had started. Zak Wallingford was credited with the assist on the goal. With the win, Berry keeps its perfect record going at 5-0.
Covenant (1-4) had a couple of scoring chances early in the contest. Tyler Morrison, Chris Pifer, and Roy Anderson each had a shot on goal in the first 17 minutes of the first half. Berry keeper Logan Hill was there each time for the save, however. Andrew Carey had a shot late in the first period, but again Hill thwarted the Scots attack. David Taaffe took Covenant's only shot on goal in the second half and overtime periods.
Scots keeper Shuler Polk did his part to keep Covenant in the match. Polk finished with 11 saves, a season-high for the junior. Hill tallied five saves for the Vikings.
Covenant will open its home schedule on Saturday when they host Truett-McConnell College at 7:00 p.m. at Scotland Yard.
