BIRMINGHAM -- The Lady Scots volleyball team let a couple of late leads slip in Wednesday's road match-up with the Birmingham Southern College Lady Panthers. The 3-0 loss (25-27, 16-25, 19-25) is only the second time the Lady Scots have been swept all season.
BSC improves to 10-12 on the year while Covenant falls to 11-6.
Covenant had leads of 24-22 and 25-24 in the opening game, but BSC had answers on each one. In the second game, the Lady Scots led 16-13 before allowing the Lady Panthers to go on a 12 point run to win the set.
Attackers Jessie Jakes and Erica Adams each earned 10 kills during the match while setter Kristin Dahlstrand tallied 24 set assists. As a team, the Lady Scots had 9 total blocks, compared to Birmingham-Southern's 4.
Shelby Moore led the Lady Panthers on the attack with 16 kills at a .424 pace. Alex Bothe had 12 kills.
The Lady Scots will be back in action, at home, on Tuesday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. for a conference match-up with Piedmont College. The Lady Lions (17-3, 4-0 GSAC) are the current frontrunners in the Great South Athletic Conference.
