MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Saturday afternoon, the Lady Scots volleyball team added two more wins to its season total with a victory over Randolph College and a rematch win over Emory & Henry College. Covenant won the first match in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-22) before defeating Emory & Henry in four, 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21).
In the first match of the day, Emily Stewart and Jessie Jakes led the offense and earned 11 and 9 kills, respectively. Kristin Dahlstrand provided the usual support with 27 assists. Estes Carlson had 12 digs, followed by Stewart with 10. Randolph's Shana Nelson led their offense with 10 kills. Covenant stopped Randolph's attack, earning 6 team blocks; Erica Adams had 4 of those by herself.
The Lady Scots rematch against Emory & Henry College was fairly close, but Covenant came out on top with another four-set victory. Each team recorded 9 blocks for the night. Jakes and Adams tied for the lead attacker with 16 kills. Dahlstrand had an 41 assists, and Carlson had 28 digs. Midway through the third set, with the match on the line, the Lady Scots went on a 7 point streak to take their lead from 14-13 up to 21-13. Emory & Henry's lead scorer was Nicole Tesh with 14 kills. Fallon Davis earned 34 assists, and Sam Lucado had 30 digs.
Covenant's record is now 21-7 and 8-1 in the GSAC. Randolph's record drops to 11-15 while and Emory & Henry's drops to 14-12.
The Lady Scots final match of the season will be at home on Tuesday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. when the Covenant will honor its volleyball seniors.
