ATLANTA -- The Lady Scots volleyball team went on the road again this Saturday to play two teams. Both matches ended in victory for the ladies as they beat Piedmont College 3-0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-19) before beating Agnes Scott College soundly 3-0 (25-8, 25-9, 25-13).
Covenant's record is now 19-6 overall and looks very good in the Great South at 8-1.
In the first match, the Lady Scots worked well together against Piedmont as everyone earned a kill as well as a dig. Jessie Jakes (13), Erica Adams (10), and Emily Stewart (11) all contributed to Covenant's offense. Kills for Piedmont were spread evenly over all of their attackers. Kristin Dahlstrand earned 37 assists, once again allowing for the Lady Scots powerful attack. After winning the first game, Covenant found itself losing 24-19 in the second but due to 4 kills in a row by the Lady Scots, they caught back up and proceeded to win the game 27-25.
The second match, against Agnes Scott, was mostly Covenant's game. Adams earned 14 kills. Agnes Scott's Morgan Bender had 6 kills for the night. Dahlstrand had 31 assists, while Agnes Scott had a team total of only 14. Nearly all Lady Scots contributed on the defensive end with at least one dig; Libero Estes Carlson had the most at 13. All three games were in Covenant's favor, and Agnes Scott had little chance to do anything at all.
The Lady Scots play their next game against Berry College in Rome, Ga. on Tuesday, October 25 at 7 p.m.
