Lookout Mountain, GA- The Lady Scots' volleyball team returned home Saturday morning for their first home match since early October to face the Lady Cavaliers of Virginia Intermont College and the Lady Pioneers of Wesleyan College. In the day's first match, Covenant started out slow, falling behind early in each of their first two sets. However, as the match went on, the ladies were able to find a rhythm and take home their tenth win of the season. Joanna McGill and Johanna Stoep seemed to create some of the team's rhythm early on as they connected on several plays leading to big Covenant points- points which ended as the ball struck the court with unbelievable force.
Covenant's second match of the day against Wesleyan College saw the Lady Scots jump out to a big lead early- a lead that was never close to being relinquished. The Lady Pioneers, who are yet to win a set this season in their thirteen matches, made 26 errors while only managing 2 total attack attempts. Jessica Chittenden registered a personal season-high 7 total kills in the match while also contributing another season-high 5 service aces.
With the win, the Lady Scots move to 11-15 on the year and 5-6 in the month of October. Their next match is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27th at 7:00 against Gadsden State Community College here on Lookout Mountain.
