The Lady Scots' volleyball team made quick work of Gadsden State Community College this evening, completing their victory in less than an hour and fifteen minutes. Covenant's leading contributors were Joanna McGill with 19 assists, Emily Stewart with 12 kills and only 1 attacking error, Erica Adams with 3 blocking assists, and Katrina Unglaub with 26 service receptions and 15 digs. Although the ladies tallied big numbers on the offensive end, defense played a major role in the team's success. Many points seemed to be going Gadsden State's way until a key block by Erica Adams or dig by Joanna McGill turned the tables and led to a Covenant point. Diving efforts were also characteristic of Covenant's performance including one-handed saves on multiple occasions. "We showed a lot of resilience, strength, and determination tonight" purported Coach Heather Taylor. "I'm very pleased with the way we've been playing recently and with how the program is growing." Although Covenant has now won 6 of their last 7 and is on a season-long 4 match winning streak, tonight's match will not go on the ladies' overall record since Gadsden State is a junior college.
