BEREA, Ky. -- Four goals in the first half and four in the second got women's soccer an authoritative 8-0 shutout of Berea on Saturday afternoon.

Georgie Strawbridge scored her first of the season to start things off, and then Elle Cherry, Tess Duble, Aimee Babb, Oli Conrad, Abbey Heupel, and Emma Anderson tacked on later to complete the eight scores, as the Scots (1-3) engineered 24 shots on goal. 

The scoring got started just 23 seconds in, as Strawbridge knocked in her first of the season. Later, in the 21st minute, Cherry, a freshman from Birmingham, Ala., scored her first career goal. Just 4:29 later, Duble put home her first of the season and fourth in her career to make it 3-0.

The Mountaineer (0-2) defense held off the Scots for the next few minutes, but a pass from Abby Eastes found its way to an open Babb, who punched it in to make it 4-0 going into the half.

Covenant generated five more shots on goal in the first 15:16 minutes of the second half, but could not put one home. Finally, in the 73rd minute, Conrad got herself in the stat sheet for the first time with her goal, assisted by fellow freshman Sydney Morris. 

A scoreless, shotless 7:43 passed by after that, but a pass from Blythe Jelley found the foot of sophomore Abbey Heupel, whose 80th minute goal was the first of her career.

She would add another score in the 89th minute on an assist from Conrad as well, but not before junior Emma Anderson put in her first of the campaign in the 86th minute.

Elana Horne and LaDeja Driver combined for 16 saves in the match for Berea, while Kickasola made the lone save for the Scots in net, as she and freshman Grace Topper combined for the shutout effort.
