DANVILLE, Ky. -- Covenant men's tennis fell in their regular season finale to Asbury, 4-3, in Danville on Friday.
Caleb Domkowski and
Ben Onufrock started off strong in doubles, winning 6-2 at No. 1 over Patino and Ardiles of the Eagles, but Asbury rallied to take the other two doubles matches to steal the doubles point.
Onufrock took care of No. 1 singles opponent Moore in three sets (6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-4) to knot things up at one, and Domkowski likewise throttled Patino 6-4, 6-2 to give the Scots a 2-1 advantage.
Ardiles bounced back for the Eagles at No. 3 singles, taking the match 2-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) over
Graham Hayes.
Brock Boehling countered with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Britos at No. 4 to put the Scots one point away from victory.
However, Asbury's bottom of the lineup came through again as Caceres defeated
Gavin Patton 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 and Murillo upended
Lincoln Shine 6-3, 6-3 to take the match.
