MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Covenant men's tennis fell in the CCS Championship, 4-2, against Asbury on Saturday evening in Murfreesboro.
The Scots finish the season 13-11.
Covenant began the match on a high note, dominating doubles.
Ben Onufrock and
Caleb Domkowski defeated Ardiles and Patino of Asbury 6-2 at No. 1, while
Brock Boehling and
Graham Hayes upended Caceres and Moore 6-3 at No. 2 to take the doubles point.
Onufrock kept the train rolling in singles as he beat Moore 6-0, 6-4 to put the Scots two points away.
Asbury responded by winning both No. 5 and No. 6 singles, as Caceres beat
Lincoln Shine 6-3, 6-2 and Murillo defeated
Gavin Patton 6-1, 6-2 to even matters at two apiece.
The No. 4 and No. 2 singles slots would prove the deciding factor, but it was the Eagles who had the upper hand, as Boehling fell 7-6, 6-3 at No. 4 and Domkowski lost 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, as Asbury clinched their second CCS title in a row.
Even with that result, the Scots have a lot to be proud of this season.
