ATLANTA, Ga. -- Covenant men's tennis senior
Ben Onufrock and freshman
Lincoln Shine were named the CCS Player of the Week and CCS Rookie of the Week, respectively, announced the conference on Tuesday.
The award is the first Player of the Week of the season for Onufrock, and his third weekly honor overall, while Shine's Rookie of the Week was his third of the campaign.
Onufrock, a senior from Woodstock, Ga., gained his award after a stellar week of matches, in which he defeated the No. 12 player in the nation, Emory's Kamenev, 7-6, 6-7, 10-8, along with singles wins against Oglethorpe's Simmons (6-4, 6-1) and Berry's Chapman (6-3, 6-3).Â
Shine, a freshman from Knoxville, Tenn., collects his third CCS Rookie of the Week award after being bumped up a spot to the No. 5 singles slot, competing in all three matches in that slot and earning a doubles win alongside
Gavin Patton over Oglethorpe's Hymel and Searle, 6-3.
Onufrock, Shine and the Scots face Kalamazoo at the Covenant Tennis Complex at 3 p.m. today.
