LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. --
Ora Hall scored a career-best 12 points on 5-of-7 field goals, helping spark Covenant women's basketball's 55-42 win over Agnes Scott at Barnes PE Center on Saturday afternoon.
Chloe Bertrand (17) and
Jada Sanders (15) also contributed double figure scoring, while
Amanda Neff (13) and
Violet Wright (11) dominated on the boards.
After an initial stretch of tough Scotties (2-19, 1-11 CCS) defense, the Scots (6-16, 5-8 CCS) responded, going on a 12-2 run to go up by seven. Along with the three leading scorers, Wright and
Cair Canady got involved in that stretch as well.
Covenant would extend their lead in the second quarter with an
Anna Everett layup and
Trinity Smith free throw, and then a 13-0 run to close out the period, seven of which were scored by Bertrand, giving the Scots a 21-point halftime lead.
Hall would make her mark in the third period, hitting two triples to keep Covenant's advantage at a comfortable number. Agnes Scott would outscore the Scots in the third, however, trimming the lead to 16 going into the fourth.
Seven straight to open the fourth halted any momentum the Scotties possessed, though, as Sanders, Bertrand, and Hall each had buckets for Covenant. Sanders would add a pair of threes later in the fourth to extend the lead out to 22.Â
Agnes Scott kept fighting, scoring nine in a row, but could not make enough of a push to get back within striking distance.Â
Cybele Forbes led the Scotties with 18 points and four blocks.
