ATLANTA, Ga. -- Covenant men's tennis was placed second in the CCS Preseason Poll, announced the conference on Tuesday.
The Scots look to upend the competition after falling in the CCS semifinals to Piedmont last year, ultimately going 13-7 (5-1 CCS).
The team is led by head coach
John Hirte, who enters his 14th season, and assistant
Renato Mizutani, finishing up his first year.
The roster boasts five seniors, two juniors, a sophomore, and a pair of freshmen in 2026.Â
Reigning CCS Player of the YearÂ
Ben Onufrock heads up the senior class, while fellow lineup mainstays
Brock Boehling and
Graham Hayes look to complete their time with strong campaigns.
Jackson Nance and
Jacob Eldridge round out the seniors, providing valuable experience.
The junior class is headlined by All-CCS First Team member
Caleb Domkowski, who played at the No. 2 slot last season and went 16-2 in his singles play. Fellow junior
Gavin Patton aims to add to his excellent ledger in doubles after going 5-1 in his doubles pairings in 2025.
The lone sophomore is
Zakhar Lanskyi, who awaits his first chance to make his collegiate debut, and freshmen
Cameron Erb and
Lincoln Shine attempt to crack the lineup as well.
The spring schedule opens on the mountaintop with a matchup against Johnson, the first of six February matches. The Scots then head to Orlando for a spring break trip before preparing for conference play on March 28 against Piedmont.
The conference season wraps up on April 17 against Asbury, and the CCS Tournament commences the following week (April 23-25) in Murfreesboro, Tenn., with the top six teams earning invites.
Reigning CCS men's champion Asbury was selected as the preseason favorite, earning six of a possible seven first-place votes.
