MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Covenant men's tennis defeated Maryville, 4-2, in the CCS semifinals on Friday afternoon, placing the Scots in the CCS Championship match for the third time in their first four seasons of the CCS.
Maryville struck early in this one, taking No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to assume the early advantage.
Singles was a different ballgame.
Gavin Patton evened the match at No. 6 singles with his comfortable 6-2, 6-0 win over CCS Rookie of the Year Stephen Fitzsimmons, and then
Brock Boehling gave Covenant the lead with his 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles over Benjamin Schneider.
Lincoln Shine then made his mark, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 5 singles to put Covenant one match away. Maryville would not go down quietly, though, as Field Myatt took No. 4 singles over
Graham Hayes by a 6-4, 7-6 (3) score.
Finally, Onufrock was able to get the job done, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to clinch the berth in the championship match tomorrow.

The CCS Championship occurs tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. against No. 1 seed Asbury.
