JACKSON, Miss. -- Covenant men's basketball fell in their regular season finale despite a career-best performance from
Ethan Parker, losing to Belhaven 100-88 at Rugg Arena in Jackson.
Despite the loss, the Scots earned the final spot in the CCS Tournament, gaining the tiebreaker over Piedmont.
Parker led the Scots with 22 points, going 8-of-12 from the field in just 18 minutes off the bench, adding three boards and two steals.
Logan Patterson added 15 and
Pierce Smith 12 to round out their 2025-26 campaigns.
Covenant (8-17, 3-9 CCS) fell behind to the Blazers (13-12, 7-5 CCS) quickly in the first half, trailing by as many as 22 with just 9:59 remaining in the half.Â
However, a subsequent 19-4 run by the Scots trimmed it down to seven with 3:19 to go, with a balanced attack from Parker, Smith, Patterson,
Korbin Long,
Bolton Born, and
Noah Pence getting the job done. The Blazers would score the final four of the half to lead by 11 at the break.
Belhaven added further to their lead in the second half, going up by 26 with 9:57 to play. An 8-0 run by Covenant helped suppress the bleeding, as the Scots got it down to 11 with 5:04 to go.Â
That would be as close as it would get, as the Blazers cruised from there to win. However, Parker scored the final seven points for the Scots, helping him set his new career-high.
CJ Minton of Belhaven led all scorers with 24.
