Bostrom's Brace Lifts Men's Soccer to Victory at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. -- Covenant men's soccer got two goals from Jackson Bostrom as part of a four-goal outburst as the Scots upended Piedmont, 4-1, at the Walker Athletic Complex in Demorest on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Scots (5-7-2, 3-0-1 CCS) now need either a win or a draw against Asbury on Saturday to clinch the No. 1 seed in the CCS Tournament.

Along with Bostrom's two tallies, giving him five for the season, Ian Adams notched his second of the campaign, and Sean Freace had his first career goal, as Covenant scored their most goals in a match this season. Daniel Wallis and Sam Conrad earned assists on the night, their second and third of the season, respectively.

The first goal of the match came in the early stages, as Covenant generated a successful attack inside the Lions' (3-10-1, 1-3-0 CCS) zone and fired three shots, the first two by Conrad, and then the third from Adams, which was successful, in the 7th minute.

After Bostrom forced another save by Piedmont's Andrew Nowak just 1:43 later, it was J.T. Tolson's turn to get involved on the defensive end, as he saved his first shot faced in the 13th minute to preserve the 1-0 lead. Then, Bostrom got another chance in the 17th minute, and found a lane, taking Wallis' pass and putting it home for a 2-0 lead.

Neither team was able to muster a shot on net the rest of the half, though, making it 2-0 at the break.

Following the break, Covenant struck again 1:25 into the second half, as Freace scored on a free kick to extend the Scots' lead to three goals. Just 6:45 later, Bostrom received a pass from Conrad and converted again for his second of the night and a commanding 4-0 lead.

The Lions were able to get a goal late in the match on a penalty kick, but it was too little, too late, as Covenant cruised to the win from there.

Daris Mustic notched the goal for Piedmont, while Nowak and Tolson made three saves each for their respective teams in net.
