Women's Soccer Overwhelms Toccoa Falls

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. -- Lila Wiley scored four goals and the team as a whole dropped eight for the second time this season as the Scots overwhelmed Toccoa Falls, 8-0, on Tuesday evening.

Wiley's career-best four goal game puts her now at 10 for the season, while AT Simon scored her seventh, Blythe Jelley her first, Elle Cherry her second, and Oli Conrad her fourth. Cherry, Simon, Tess Duble, and Maren Halvorson notched assists as well to round out the offense.

In an offensive showcase for Covenant (6-5-2), Wiley kicked things off in the 12th minute, taking a pass from Cherry and placing it into the net for a 1-0 lead.

6:10 later, a free kick from Simon found Wiley open again, who converted for her second goal. The next two came in a span of 21 seconds, with Duble assisting on the second in that span, as Wiley staked the Scots to a 4-0 lead 24:10 into the match.

The onslaught did not stop there, though, as Simon put one of her own home in the 26th minute to make it 5-0 on a free kick. Blythe Jelley then followed with a corner kick goal, the senior's third of her career, to make it 6-0.

The Eagles (1-10-2) defense held out the rest of the half, as Zoey Elliott stopped three shots to end the half.

35 seconds into the second half, it was Cherry's turn to get involved, as she and Halvorson ran the two-on-one fast break to perfection, leading to Cherry's second goal of the season to extend the lead to seven.

After a long wait, Conrad rounded out the goal scorers in the 85th minute, and the defense did the rest, allowing no shots on frame as Bronwyn Kickasola and Grace Topper combined for the shutout, the third of the season for Covenant.

In total, Elliott stopped 13 shots for Toccoa Falls.
