MACON, Ga. -- Covenant women's basketball controlled the game throughout, upending Wesleyan on their home court, 66-38, on Saturday afternoon.
Violet Wright led the way for the Scots (5-13, 4-5 CCS) with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while
Chloe Bertrand added 14 and three steals.
The first quarter was close early on, as the Wolves (0-13, 0-9 CCS) trailed Covenant by just one with 3:45 remaining in the period.
However, the Scots scored eight unanswered in the final stretch of the quarter, with four different Scots scoring a bucket.
Covenant added another run of seven straight points in the second quarter, extending their lead to 11.
Emma Kaye Fuller,
Cair Canady, and Bertrand did the honors.
Anna Everett and
Karrie Gaines got into the action in the second as well, helping the Scots with a pair of threes that helped Covenant go up 15 at half.
The Scots padded their lead further in the third, ending the period on a 7-2 stretch to go up 19.
Trinity Smith, Wright, Canady and Gaines were at it again for Covenant to end the third.
The Scots kept up the pace in the fourth, going on a 16-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Emma Flowers got her flowers with 1:51 remaining, draining a three to end the 16-point stretch.
Jenaiya Hardy led Wesleyan with eight points, while Zariah Davis secured a team-high eight boards.
