THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Covenant concluded the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational on Saturday afternoon in a match against Chapman. The Scots (4-5), looking to leave town with a win, got the job done in a 3-0 sweep of the Panthers (5-3).Â
Sets one and two were very tightly contested. Covenant won 26-24 in set one and 29-27 in set two as it got all the clutch points when it mattered most late. In the third set, Covenant cruised to a 25-16 victory after opening the set on a 6-0 run.
One of the key statistical categories was service aces, with Covenant totaling 14 to Chapman's one. The Scots also had a higher kill count at 47-33.
Kennedy Barber and Scarlett Martz each shined offensively, with both players posting 10 kills. Cali Sandhoff and Amber Snook both had 17 assists, helping start the Covenant attack all afternoon. Sandhoff also had eight kills and seven digs, while Snook had eight digs.Â
Aubrianna Gerdes nearly had a double-double with 10 digs and nine kills, positively affecting the Scots on both sides of the net.Â
The win moves Covenant to 1-1 all-time against Chapman. Â
