LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant and Piedmont battled on Friday afternoon in a rematch of last year's CCS Championship match. Just as it was last April in Chattanooga, the Scots came out on top, taking down the Lions to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Final: Covenant 5, Piedmont 2
Records: Covenant (10-5, 3-0 CCS), Piedmont (10-7, 3-1 CCS)
DOUBLES:
- In the No. 1 slot, Caleb Domkowski and Ben Onufrock took little time to take down Leyton Dunn and Connor Phelps 6-2.
- The tightest doubles match was in the No. 2 position as Brock Boehling and Graham Hayes fell to Yannick Wassmer Navarro and Charles Parnell 4-6.
- In the No. 3 ranked match, it was another lopsided win for the Scots as Gill Dunn and Jackson Oresga beat Simon Johnstone and Amirjon Latipov 6-1 to clinch the doubles point.
SINGLES:
- Onufrock picked up his second win of the afternoon in the No. 1 slot, taking down Wassmer Navaro 6-3, 6-2.
- In what was the final match to conclude, Domkowski came through with a tiebreak win in the No. 2 position against Parnell 6-1, 6-7 (10-7).
- In the No. 3 ranked match, Boehling bounced back from his doubles loss to earn a 6-3, 6-4 win over Mark Backeberg.
- Piedmont picked up a singles win in the No. 4 slot as Orsega was defeated 3-6, 3-6.
- Hayes also bounced back from a doubles loss, defeating Phelps 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 5 position to clinch the win for Covenant.
- Dunn suffered a 1-6, 0-6 loss in the No. 6 ranked match.
UP NEXT: Covenant travels to Huntingdon on April 4th for another conference match.
